As a school we remain committed to preparing our pupils for their future wellbeing and success in what is a rapidly changing world. For this reason, we have partnered with Role Models. Role Models is an impact driven education provider who develop social and emotional wellbeing and dynamic thinking in young people through online courses and sessions. We believe that better life skills really can mean better results for your children in many areas of their young lives.

Role Models will offer lessons to Junior pupils on valuable life skills including: Resilience, Collaboration, Leadership, and Creative Problem Solving.

When your child is enrolled in the Role Models class, you will receive an email summary and ‘Top Tip’ after each session, and pupils will be provided with a follow-up activity sheet. Additionally, every 5 sessions, pupils will receive a personalised Role Models certificate!

Laughtercise

Laughtercise

Laughtercise brings wiggles and giggles to everyone’s living room all around the world! Their aim is to let children do what they love; being playful by making them laugh and feel-better with silly bouncing around and laughing until they are rolling on the floor sessions. Laughtercise brings new perspectives and activities to meet school’s wellbeing targets. The sessions help pupils to release energy, feel good and concentrate better afterwards.

At My Online Schooling, we are committed to ensure that our pupils have tools and options to take care of their wellbeing. For this reason we have partnered up with Laughtercise to provide our pupils support on their journey with us.

Laughtercise offers monthly classes to our junior pupils. Run by Chief Chucklers Aaron Betesta and Harriet Brady-Jackson, Laughtercise offer fun, energetic laughter-fitness sessions to burn energy, relieve stress and promote overall wellbeing. This class allows pupils to laugh with their friends and release energy in a really positive way. Each lesson has a different theme for example, jungle, under the sea etc. The lessons will include movement activities and laughing exercises and ends with deep breathing techniques.

Additionally, pupils who are enrolled in this class will have access to the Laughtercise portal where they will be able to watch videos including yoga videos, chill videos and brain and body buzz videos. Pupils will also be given humorous homework to encourage them to think about their wellbeing in a fun way.

Mind Of My Own

Mind Of My Own

The wellbeing of our pupils is really important to us and our teachers, the wellbeing team and the education team are available for our pupils to talk to. However, we also understand that some young people may find it difficult to reach out for support or to talk face to face about their feelings.

For this reason, we have partnered with Mind of My Own which provides an accessible and empowering way for young people to tell those who work with them about the things that are important to them. Young people can create their own accounts, which can be used on any device at any time. The app will ask them about how they are feeling, what is going well and any news they would like to share. Once a pupil has shared their news, they can review this and send it to the wellbeing/education team. We will then be able to reach out to pupils to acknowledge their news and offer any support if necessary.

Five In A Row

Five In A Row

Five in a Row is a Scottish rowing crew of five members who are taking on the challenge of rowing the Atlantic in an international rowing competition, whilst raising awareness and money for charity – Reverse Rett, a charity dedicated to change lives of those who live with Rett Syndrome. They will be rowing without any support and carry all of their equipment and food with them for over five weeks – which means it will be physically and mentally testing.

My Online Schooling is proudly sponsoring Five in a Row’s empowering journey from La Gomera all the way across the Atlantic to Antigua. We want to support their adventure together with our pupils and that’s why we will be closely following them and we have embedded in the curriculum and assemblies. Pupils will have the opportunity to learn about preparing for the future and the sense of anything is possible – even rowing across the Atlantic! Our pupils will have many exciting activities regarding Five in the Row’s inspiring adventure.

Screen Share

Screen Share UK

Many young refugees are among the one million children in the UK who do not have access to adequate technology at home. For young people whose learning will already have been disrupted throughout their experiences of displacement, being without a laptop now further delays their ability to access their right to education.

Screen Share exists to support, inform and advocate for digital inclusion for young refugees. They do this primarily by repurposing used laptops and gifting them to young refugees in the UK.

My Online Schooling has partnered with Screen Share in two ways; firstly, by making our Edinburgh office a used laptop drop-off point for local businesses and individuals, and secondly, promoting Screen Share’s work and and services to our network of businesses and families, asking them to donate their used laptops too.

“Being a student and finding work is almost impossible without internet access. We want to do something about it.”

Moses Seitler, Founder of Screen Share UK

By having a drop-off point in Edinburgh, we will increase Screen Share’s reach across the UK, making it easier for people to donate their laptops, in turn helping more young refugees around the UK get online, and access their right to education.
